Legendary Shards have been a staple currency in Destiny 2 since 2017, but with the impending launch of The Final Shape, the final chapter in the game’s Light and Darkness saga, these shards are set to disappear for good. Many players have been stockpiling these shiny purple gems for years, amassing thousands in their inventories. Now, as the clock ticks down to the June 4 release date of The Final Shape, players are scrambling to find the best ways to spend their Legendary Shards efficiently before they vanish into the digital ether.

Whether your gameplay leans towards player versus enemy activities like Raids or player versus player modes such as Crucible and Trials of Osiris, there are various ways to make use of your Legendary Shards before they disappear.

Stocking up on these banners can prove beneficial not only in Raids but also in other playlist activities like Onslaught and Dungeons. On the other hand, if your focus is primarily on PvP gameplay, converting your shards to Glimmer, the game’s primary currency, may be a more practical choice.
As a PvE enthusiast myself, I’ve opted to invest in Raid banners to ensure I’m well-equipped for upcoming challenges, while also converting a portion of my shards to Phantasmal Fragments for future Glimmer needs. Phantasmal Fragments, available at the Lectern of Enchantment on the Moon, offer a way to continue benefiting from your shards even after their removal from the game.
In addition to Raid banners and Glimmer, players can consider purchasing a tier 5 Masterwork weapon from Banshee if time permits, although this option may not be viable with the imminent arrival of The Final Shape. Alternatively, players can choose to do nothing and allow their Legendary Shards to be phased out, given the abundance of in-game resources available through regular gameplay.
