MADRID, 7 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish tennis player Paula Badosa has bid farewell to the tournament in San José (United States), in the WTA 500 category and played on a hard court, after falling this morning in the semifinals against the Russian Daria Kasatkina (6-2, 6-4), who will fight for the title with the American Shelby Rogers.

In her fourth semifinal of the season, the Catalan, number four in the world and second favorite in the North American competition, was erratic in a match in which she had up to 30 unforced errors -for 11 of her rival- against a very disciplined Kasatkina.

In fact, she was unable to break Kasatkina’s serve during the first set, in which the Russian managed two breaks in the third and seventh games to take the lead in the contest.

Already in the second, Badosa was placed 2-0, but his opponent responded with a ‘counterabreak’ and with two new breaks that allowed him to win the sleeve in one hour and 23 minutes.

Now, Kasatkina, a finalist last year in San Jose, will seek to make amends this Sunday against American Shelby Rogers, who defeated Russian Veronika Kudermetova (6-3, 6-4) to advance to her first final in six years in search of her first WTA title.
