“Is the PSOE going to allow this permanent contempt of the PP or is it going to take measures to avoid it?” asks the purple formation
MADRID, 17 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The deputy Javier Sánchez Serna, one of the co-spokespersons of the Podemos leadership, has summoned the PSOE to carry out a reform so that an absolute majority is sufficient when it comes to renewing the General Council of the Judiciary (CGPJ), which is submitted, in his opinion, to the “kidnapping” of “the right and the PP”.
“We believe that at this time there is a majority in Congress to reform the method of electing the body of judges and we should move forward,” said Sánchez Serna in statements to Europa Press, betting on lowering the support required to implement this reform. .
The proposal that United We Can has been defending is to lower the current bar of three fifths of the Chamber (210 votes, which makes the PP contest essential) so that an absolute majority is enough (176, accessible for the majority of the investiture). Of course, it requires a second condition, that the proposals are signed by half plus one of the groups, as was done with the Council of RTVE.
According to the co-spokesman for Podemos, the country cannot allow itself to end the legislature with the governing body of the judges “already expired more than 1,300 days, with this contempt and this permanent sedition of the PP to the Constitution”, for which reason “They should reform these majorities so that the CGPJ can be renewed” and end “once and for all with the kidnapping of the CGPJ by the right and the PP.”
In the opinion of Sánchez Serna, in turn third secretary of the Congress Table, the PP has adopted a “seditious attitude, contrary to the Constitution”, because “it has never had the intention of renewing the CGPJ”, not even with Pablo Casado as president of the ‘popular’ nor now with “Mr. Feijóo”.
“They want to use the body of the judges to hinder the democratic decisions of a legitimate government and a democratic parliament”, in his opinion the same “attitude” that “Donald Trump had in the United States and the Supreme Court persecuting a human right such as the abortion”. “The PP continues in that trumpist line,” he has said.
According to the deputy of Congress and coordinator of the purple formation in Murcia, the question that must be asked is “if the PSOE is going to allow this permanent contempt for the Constitution of the PP, if it is going to continue waiting for a PP that despises any type of agreement or if we are going to take the measures to avoid it”.
Regarding the renewal of the Constitutional Court scheduled for September (two magistrates proposed by the Executive and two by the CGPJ), Sánchez Serna has defended that Podemos must be heard, since it is part of the Executive. “Unidas Podemos always has to have a voice because it is part of a coalition government without which there would be no government,” he stressed.
