The General Council of Official Associations of Real Estate Agents (Coapi) has lamented this Wednesday “the laxity and lack of clarity of the law” in terms of ‘squatting’, “which is currently experiencing its highest point”, according to has reported in a statement.
Coapi denounces that the cases of ‘squatting’ have increased, especially in second homes, and are concentrated in Cataluña, Islas Baleares, Islas Canarias, Región de Murcia, Comunidad Valenciana and Comunidad de Madrid.
The treasurer of the General Council and president of the Coapi of Madrid, Jaime Cabrero, points out the need to reach “a state pact” between social, political and technical agents to find “an effective and long-term solution”.
“Otherwise, confusion will continue to be created for both the consumer and the investor that is very detrimental to our real estate market and our economy and that clearly violates one of the rights that underpins our Welfare State, such as that of property. private,” warns Cabrero.
The president of the Madrid Coapi also advocates clearly defining the concepts of “vulnerability”, “private property” and “usurpation”.
For her part, the person in charge of the Legal Advice area of ??the General Council of the Coapi of Spain, Montserrat Junyent, stresses that “the legal fluctuations registered in recent years in terms of ‘squatting’, both public and private, do not help determine a legislative framework that definitively prevents this trend”.
