He affirms that the only condition of ERC to approve the budget is to improve the accounts at a social level and advance in the political conflict

BARCELONA, 24 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The ERC spokesman in Congress, Gabriel Rufián, has today rejected setting deadlines to reform the crime of sedition although he defends doing so as soon as possible, but has specified that “the only condition” of ERC to approve the budgets for 2023 is to improve the accounts at a social level and advance in resolving the political conflict. He has argued, in this sense, that sedition “does not interest people”, that he is more concerned about his mortgage.

In an interview on La 2 and Ràdio 4 this Monday collected by Europa Press, Rufián has defended reforming the crime of sedition as soon as possible, but has refused to set deadlines to carry it out.

When asked if the reform of this crime will be a necessary condition for the Republicans to approve the PGE, he replied: “The only condition for ERC is to move forward, improve budgets at a social level and advance in the political conflict.”

Along these lines, he has opined that this issue does not interest people, who –in his words– are much more concerned about their mortgage, and has insisted that ERC must respond to the economic situation and the political conflict: ” We have to try to be in everything.”

“There is a long way to go to improve the Budgets. I am talking about infrastructure, services, people’s day-to-day lives,” he concluded. In any case, she has defended that the 2023 Budgets are “the main lever” to pressure the PSOE and defends negotiating them.

In fact, he has lamented that “the PSOE does not do it, it must be constantly doubled down” and has argued that the Republicans’ refusal to present an amendment to all of the Accounts gives time and space to improve them.

Likewise, he has accused the PSOE of breaching the agreements reached with the Republicans but has warned that Catalonia would not be better off with a PP and Vox government, for which he sees a window of opportunity in the negotiations: “This does not mean that we are responsible for the decisions of the PSOE, we are responsible for its good rectifications”.

Rufián has separated the negotiations of the PGE from that of the Catalan Accounts, considering that “there is a lot of scorched earth between the PSC and ERC” and, asked if he would approve them with them, he has defended speaking with everyone and has assured that an extension It would not be –in his words– any drama.

Thus, he has attributed the Catalan Budgets for 2023 to Junts and has demanded their votes to approve them “as presented”, since according to him they have not changed at all compared to those prepared by the former Minister of Economy Jaume Giró.

“It is not understood that until 48 hours ago you made some budgets and that now, simply because you are not in the Government, you do not support them,” he criticized.

He has insisted that the ERC Government alone represents 80% of the Catalan population and has said he is proud to be part of “a political project that is capable of integrating such different people”.

Rufián has set the objective of the Republicans “to add, to condition” in the City Council of Santa Coloma de Gramenet (Barcelona), for which he will head the lists of the Republicans in the municipal elections.

He has warned that “the party begins as it begins” since the ERC has three aldermen when the PSC governs alone with 17, and has described as insane that a political formation governs with an absolute majority for, he said, 31 years.

He has criticized that the municipal government “seizes as its own investments from institutions that are not from the City Council” and has put the financing received from the Barcelona Provincial Council in recent years at 7,000 million euros, in his words.
