MADRID, 3 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The ERC spokesman in Congress, Gabriel Rufián, has indicated this Thursday that the exhumation of coup leader General Gonzalo Queipo de Llano, which was carried out this morning, is “much more generous and merciful” than he was with his victims. “Perhaps he deserved something else”, he has added, although without specifying what.
After 2:20 a.m. this Thursday, the exhumation of the mortal remains of Queipo de Llano and the war auditor Francisco Bohórquez Vecina ended in the Macarena basilica, thanks to the request made by the central government to the brotherhood on behalf of the determinations of the recent Democratic Memory Law.
“The remains come out in a hearse after 71 years in a basilica, I think he is much more generous and merciful than he was with his victims,” ??he indicated in the corridor of the Lower House, where he branded the general of “fascist”.
However, Rufián has welcomed compliance with the Democratic Memory Law, which prohibits the presence of the remains of leaders of the 1936 coup d’état in pre-eminent places of public access. “We are left with that,” he assured.
