MADRID, 23 May. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The coach of Atlético de Madrid, Diego Pablo Simeone, explained that his team’s season must be understood as “good” and “important”, after closing the course this Sunday with the victory (1-2) over Real Sociedad .
The rojiblanco coach explained that third place in LaLiga Santander and touching the semifinals of the Champions League would be good baggage if it weren’t for the fact that they had just been League champions. “As we were champions last year, it always seems little, but in the end we ended up rounding off an important season, a good one, and one that leaves us in a privileged place”, he pointed out.
“You always want to win and be champion. It’s not easy because we live in a League with Real Madrid and Barça, which is very difficult. This season he made us a wake-up call. We were very close to not making it. We were 11 points behind against Seville but we achieved it, because everything focused on something concrete”, he affirmed.
“This season leaves us with a lot of things, it was hard. We need to rest, since it started it wasn’t easy. It cost. It would be great to be able to generate hope, reverse how the end of the season was done. The rebelliousness of the soccer players leaves us illusion”, finished.
