The Justice office accumulates more than 13,000 assets and confiscated goods and a balance of 92 million euros

The Office for the Recovery and Management of Assets (ORGA), dependent on the Ministry of Justice, has collected more than 11.58 million euros thanks to auctions of assets seized, seized or seized from criminals since 2018.
In a written response to a question from the socialist deputies Isaura Leal and Antonio Hurtado, the Government has detailed that the ORGA, which was created in 2015 and aims to collaborate with the judicial bodies and prosecutors in locating assets from the activity for their confiscation, and to manage them effectively, has carried out a total of 491 auctions in these four years.
The year in which the institution held the most auctions, which seeks to invest illicitly obtained profits in projects to help victims and fight against organized crime, was 2021, with 182. Thanks to them, ORGA has received more than 6, €78 million.
In 2020 and 2019, ORGA organized 135 auctions each year, which raised more than 2.62 million and 1.15, respectively. Meanwhile, in 2018, 39 were organized, thanks to which he received more than one million euros, according to data collected by Europa Press.
The Government has also provided data on the assets and property controlled by ORGA. There are 13,444 in total, 3,438 assets and 10,006 assets, as of July 25, 2022. Most correspond to electronic items, unspecified –58 assets and 4,473 assets–, and art and antiques –1,089 assets and 1,556 goods–.
They also include real estate –717 assets and 717 goods–; furniture –205 assets and 284 goods–; jewelry and watches –132 assets and 137 goods–; boats –eight assets and eight goods–; machinery –14 assets and 15 goods–; or vehicles –27 assets and 30 goods–, among others.
The Executive has specified that the number of assets with actions in process entrusted to the General Subdirectorate of Conservation, Administration and Realization of Assets of the ORGA amounts to 3,438. When it comes to lots, each of these assets can include several goods.
On the other hand, ORGA’s deposit and consignment account has a balance of seven different currencies for a value of more than 92 million euros. The Government emphasizes the impossibility of giving a closed figure considering the daily fluctuations of the various currencies.
