The Ecuadorian Attorney General’s Office (FGE) has shown this Tuesday “its energetic rejection” of the situation of violence in which the country finds itself, after a fiscal agent died on Monday.

“The FGE reiterates its commitment to citizens to provide access to justice – as mandated by the Constitution and the law -, despite this and other attacks suffered by servants and workers of the institution,” reads the statement published by the FGE. prosecution.

In this sense, the public ministry has indicated that “it is necessary for the country to have an effective strategy against all types of crime.” These measures, he explains, would aim to prevent the daily death of innocent people.

Thus, the FGE calls on the country’s institutions to “work together against crime and prevent the loss of more lives.”

On Monday, prosecutor Federico Estrella died after being shot upon arriving at his home in the city of Babahoyo, capital of Los RĂos province, in the west of the country. The emergency services took him to the hospital, where Estrella’s death was confirmed, due to gunshot wounds.

This Sunday, also, five people died and 16 were injured by a bomb attack in Guayaquil, also in the west of the country. Authorities called the incident a “terrorist attack.”
