MADRID, 29 Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish economy accelerated its quarterly growth between April and June, reaching 1.1%, compared to 0.2% in the previous quarter, according to the advance of National Accounts data published this Friday by the National Institute of Statistics (INE). ).

In the second quarter, national demand began to lead economic growth, mainly due to the strong recovery in household consumption (which went from negative growth to 3.2%) and the maintenance of the dynamism of investments.

The quarterly growth of GDP, the fifth in a row, has been seven tenths above that forecast by the Bank of Spain, which had projected in its latest forecasts an advance of 0.4% for the second quarter.

However, Statistics has explained that the advance data for this second quarter has been made from statistical indicators that offered results until May, just when the Russian invasion of Ukraine took place.

However, as was the case in the advance results of previous quarters, the INE has also been able to add on this occasion, to the base information usually used, advance results from some sources referring to the month of June, estimates of indicators based on administrative data and other additional sources that complement the usual ones, all in line with the recommendations of Eurostat and other international statistical organizations.

In year-on-year terms, the variation in the Gross Domestic Product is 6.3%, a rate similar to that of the first quarter of 2022, according to the INE.
