MADRID, 5 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov asserted on Wednesday that Russia would reclaim the “temporarily abandoned” territories in the recently annexed regions of eastern Ukraine: Donetsk, Lugansk, Jershon and Zaporiyia.

“There is no contradiction here. They will always be with Russia, they will be returned,” he said during a press conference, according to information from the Interfax news agency.

His words come after the Russian Defense Ministry confirmed the withdrawal of Russian troops from some areas of the annexed regions as part of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, which began in late February.

Thus, Peskov stressed that the operation continues and that “no decisions have been made about transferring some of the functions to the anti-terrorist operations unit. “This is entirely the prerogative of the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces, the president of the country “, he said before pointing out that “to date no decisions have been made in this regard.”

However, it has not specified the borders that will define these territories as part of Russia. “You have to read the decree, there are legal terms. In general, of course, it refers to the territory on which there is a civic-military administration,” he said.
