MADRID, 8 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The military parade on October 12 will be held in Madrid “like every year”, on its usual route along Paseo de la Castellana, and will also include a tribute to all those emergency services that have dealt with the catastrophes suffered by Spain During the last years.
This has been assured to Europa Press by the Defense Minister, Margarita Robles, who rules out that the military parade that is celebrated for the National Holiday can take place in a city other than the capital.
“On October 12 it will be done in Madrid like every year, on the Paseo de la Castellana”, he settles, after the mayor of Madrid, José Luis Martínez Almeida, warned of the possibility that the Government wanted to “punish” to the capital depriving it of the parade to “reward” those who want to “break Spain”.
The Ministry of Defense is already working on the organization of this parade, which in its last edition brought 2,656 troops, 68 aircraft and 115 vehicles to the center of Madrid; and that it was presided over as is traditional by Kings Felipe VI and Letizia.
In addition, members of the Government come, led by the president, Pedro Sánchez, who is already routinely greeted with whistles by the citizens who come to see the Armed Forces parade.
The format of this celebration was only altered in 2020 due to the pandemic, when the parade had to be abolished and the event was commemorated with a military act held in the Royal Palace Armory Courtyard.
The parade that does go through different Spanish cities is that of the Day of the Armed Forces, which is celebrated at the end of May on the Saturday closest to the festival of San Fernando and which in its last edition took place in Huesca.
However, this was also limited to Madrid for four years, with an ostensibly reduced format, during the period of the last economic crisis; although it came out again in 2017, first to Guadalajara and in its following editions to cities such as Logroño or Seville.
