The party in Andalusia, the one with the largest number of delegates, opts for the current leadership

MADRID, 11 Jun. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Communist Party of Spain (PCE) will hold its congress from July 8 to 10 in which its current secretary, Enrique Santiago, leaves with a majority to be re-elected, as indicated by the leadership, before the critical sector headed by the councilor in the Zaragoza City Council, Alberto Cubero.

The formation has already held its regional conventions in the absence of the PSUC Viu in Catalonia, which takes place this weekend, to debate the management report, as well as the political documents presented by the current executive and the team that Cubero represents.

As party sources have indicated to Europa Press, Santiago’s theses have been imposed at the conference of the Andalusian Communist Party, which is the organization that contributes the largest number of delegates to the conclave, by nominating approximately 40%. In this way, 96% endorsed the political and organizational proposal of the current state leadership, which is equivalent to the practical unanimity of the Andalusian body.

In Euskadi it has also achieved majority support (with a support of 92%) and in Castilla-La Mancha it has prevailed but with a smaller margin, also achieving half of the delegates in Cantabria.

While in the rest of the regional conventions they have opted for the alternative sector in different proportions, although the current leadership of the PCE has also obtained support.

In this way, in Aragon he garnered unanimous support for the critical document while 82% of the delegations from the Valencian Community and Extremadura will give their support to Cubero. Also a great support in Aragon and obtain a majority in Murcia (64%), Asturias, Madrid, Castilla y León, Galicia and the Balearic Islands.

In this way, sources from the current leadership of the PCE emphasize that Enrique Santiago’s team “confirms” that it has already achieved majority support and is the favorite ahead of the congressional event. Other sources of the formation emphasize that Santiago can get to harvest the vote of 60% of the elected delegates.

Moreover, they advance that the current secretary general will communicate in the coming days his availability to continue leading the training for the next cycle.

Once all the regional conferences are over, work will continue to try to guarantee unity in the face of Congress, although for now everything indicates that the two sectors will face each other at the congressional event in July.
