Microsoft has released the Xbox June update, introducing exciting new dynamic background features for Xbox Series X|S, along with enhancements for PC, cloud gaming, and more.
The latest Xbox update for June 2024 is now available for all players across Xbox consoles, PC, Xbox Cloud Gaming, and accessories. Xbox Insiders have been testing various features in recent months, and many of these are now included in the latest update.
For Xbox Series X|S players, the update allows for even more customization of backgrounds. Players can now run dynamic backgrounds alongside game art backgrounds, using dynamic images as replacements for apps on the dashboard. A new setting also enables changing the dynamic background color without affecting the profile theme. These features can be accessed through Settings > General > Personalization > My Background > Show selected game art.
On consoles, players can now easily reconnect to networks when moving to new locations as the update now allows consoles to remember up to ten different networks without requiring the password to be retyped. This feature could be particularly useful for those anticipating the rumored Xbox handheld console.
Additionally, players can now manage their subscriptions directly on the console by going to Settings > Account > Subscriptions. Microsoft has also hinted at more experiments in the works, such as console search improvements, updates to the Game Pass page layout, and additional information on search card results and flashcard store buttons.
The Xbox app on PC has also received enhancements with the Game Pass tab now displaying options to immediately access games in the catalog, including titles available through EA Play and Riot Games. For those accessing Xbox Cloud Gaming via Xbox Game Pass on Edge or Chrome browsers, mouse and keyboard support has been added for several games, making them easier to find under the new mouse and keyboard section on the Cloud Gaming tab.
Moreover, Xbox Cloud Gaming now offers self-management of game data on Samsung TVs, PC browsers, and other cloud-gaming devices. This feature can be useful for troubleshooting corrupted game files or resetting games to their original state.
In terms of accessories, the update introduces new features for the Xbox Adaptive Controller and Xbox Elite Wireless Series 2 Controller. The Xbox Adaptive Controller now supports up to 12 buttons, a second stick, and a hat switch with expanded USB accessory support. The Xbox Elite Wireless Series 2 Controller has received improvements to address wireless disconnecting issues when headsets are attached to the 3.5mm audio port, along with other bug fixes.
Lastly, Microsoft has teased the upcoming release of three new Xbox Series X|S consoles, including the sleek Galaxy Black 2TB Xbox Series X. Stay tuned for more exciting updates from Xbox!
