Some 120 high school students from five high schools in the Valencian Community will contact the International Space Station (ISS) this Friday to participate in a round of questions about science. They will be joined by a group from the Higher Technical School of Telecommunications Engineering (ETSIT) of the Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV).
The connection will take place at 9:12 a.m. from the ETSIT assembly hall, as reported by the academic institution in a statement. The objective of this initiative is to promote interest in science among youth.
American astronaut and aerospace engineer Loral O’Hara will answer questions from high school students from the ISS. The radio-educational contact will last for ten minutes in which the astronaut and engineer will answer twenty questions.
They will address scientific aspects, such as the degree of impact of microgravity or the protocol to follow in the event of the possible appearance of viruses on the ISS, and other matters of a personal nature or related to O’Hara’s training and preparation. , the university has detailed.
Before the connection, starting at 8:00 a.m., the public will be able to find out about the steps that have been followed to carry out this initiative at the Universitat Politècnica de València.

Loral Ashley O’Hara (Houston, Texas, 1983) is an American engineer and NASA astronaut. She has a degree in aerospace engineering from the University of Kansas and in June 2017 she was selected as an astronaut candidate.
This professional has been part of the ISS crew (Expedition 70) since September 15, 2023 and as a flight engineer in what is her first mission in space.
