They estimate the participation of the 15th day of the strike at 74%, while the Ministry speaks of 26.21%

MADRID, 13 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Lawyers of the Administration of Justice (LAJ) assure that 2 million notifications have failed to be made due to the indefinite strike that began on January 24 to demand better wages. “Behind each number there is a citizen who is being harmed by the inexperience of the Ministry of Justice,” they point out.

The Progressive Union of Lawyers of the Administration of Justice (UPSJ), the Independent Association of Lawyers (AinLAJ) and the Illustrious National College of Lawyers have issued a statement on Monday where they estimate the monitoring of the indefinite strike during this day at 74% , while the Ministry of Justice speaks of 26.21%.

This is a slightly lower turnout compared to Friday, when the strike committee estimated 78%. On the other hand, the department directed by Pilar Llop appreciates an increase compared to the 25.61% registered on February 10.

In the more than two weeks that the indefinite strike has been going on, the LAJ have registered maximums of 85% and minimums of 73%; On the other hand, the Ministry has notified between 33.92% and 18.9% of follow-up.

According to the estimates of the three LAJ associations, since January 24, some 134,000 trials and views have been suspended -18,000 of them in Madrid– throughout the national territory; and some 120,000 demands are “stopped” and “pending delivery” throughout the country.

In addition, the strike committee ensures that there are 500 million euros pending delivery as a result of the strike. “In short, the activity in the courts has been reduced by more than 60%,” they add.

Within the framework of the statement, they insist on expressing their willingness to meet with Justice “as soon as possible, without waiting for Thursday, February 16.” “Our desire is to be able to put an end to the strike as soon as possible, but that is obviously in the hands of the Ministry, which is the one that breached the April agreements,” they point out.

The indefinite strike reaches its 15th day as a result of the conflict that has its origin in “the lack of salary adjustment to the greater functions and responsibilities attributed by Law 13/2009, discharged to judges, and increased in successive reforms”, especially that of 2015, which — they denounce — has caused an “unbearable imbalance”.

The conveners point out as a “trigger” of the conflict the agreement that Justice signed in December 2021 with the unions of the general bodies “without properly developing the salary adjustment to the latest procedural reforms provided for in the second paragraph of Additional Provision 157 of the Law 11/2020 of the General State Budget for 2021”.

Before the strike began, Llop asked the strike committee to avoid “maximalist positions” because they prevented “good agreements”. For his part, the Secretary of State for Justice, Antonio ‘Tontxu’ Rodríguez, assured that the LAJ strike was a “political” measure and that it was “out of place”.

Rodríguez stressed that “any type of economic claim that takes place in this strike does not make sense”, since the Ministry “has complied with all the agreements” reached with the representation of these workers.

On the sidelines, the director of the cabinet of the Presidency of the Government, Óscar López, told the LAJ that they are “an essential piece” of the Judiciary and expressed his “confidence” that the negotiations with the Ministry “can conclude in a reasonable agreement and satisfying.”
