BRUSELAS, 18 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The European Commission has confirmed this Tuesday the disbursement of the first tranche of macro-financial aid to Ukraine worth 2,000 million, within the framework of the additional assistance approved in the context of the war and after the Ukrainian authorities have lamented the delay in the release of funds.

“Today we disburse 2,000 million in assistance to Ukraine. More will arrive before the end of the year,” said the president of the Community Executive, Ursula von der Leyen, in a message on social networks.

In this sense, he stressed that Europe will continue to support kyiv “for as long as it takes” and that he will discuss with international partners how to sustain support within the framework of the conference to rebuild Ukraine.

On the Ukrainian side, the Prime Minister, Denis Shmyhal, thanked the Community President and the Executive Vice President, Valdis Dombrovskis, for their support. “We will win and rebuild Ukraine together,” he said.

Shmyhal recalled that this section is the first 2,000 million within the framework of the additional aid of 5,000 million approved after the summer at the proposal of Von der Leyen.

This assistance complements the 10,000 million that the EU has already allocated in financial, humanitarian and military aid. So the financial assistance rises to 14,000 million this year alone.

In any case, from kyiv the deadlines in which the funds have been released have been criticized after the first aid of 1,000 million arrived only in August, despite the fact that the first support package with 9,000 million was announced by the European Commission in May.
