BRUSELAS, 20 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The European Union has announced an additional 175 million euros in humanitarian aid for Ukraine and emergency shelters and winter facilities, in the midst of a wave of Russian attacks on civilian infrastructure.

“As Russia continues its war of aggression, we are intensifying our support for Ukraine,” European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said in a message on social media.

The announcement was made by the Commissioner for Crisis Management, Janez Lenarcic, visiting kyiv on Wednesday, where he specified that temporary accommodation capacity will be deployed immediately in the Rivne, Bucha and Kharkov regions.

He also pointed out that the EU will provide another 175 million euros in humanitarian aid to Ukraine, focused on providing education, food, access to water and protection against the cold. “We are also working together preparing a way for Ukraine to join the EU Civil Protection Mechanism,” Lenarcic stressed.

The Ukrainian authorities have denounced this Thursday new attacks with kamikaze drones, in this case against the city of Mikolaiv (south). Among the civil infrastructure, the drones have hit an educational center.
