The minister stresses that “everyone” wants an end to the war but warns that “the escalation is like a snowball”
MADRID, 2 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Russian government has stressed this Thursday that “everyone” wants the war in Ukraine to come to an end, although it has warned that the delivery of long-range weapons to kyiv will lead Russia to try to “remove” the threat from its borders.
“We all want this to end, but time is not important. The essential factor is important, and that is the quality of the results that we will give to our people, to those who want to continue being part of Russian culture,” he said. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
Thus, he explained that the Russian troops are trying to “remove the artillery of the Ukrainian Armed Forces at a distance where it does not pose a threat” to Russian territory, as reported by the Russian news agency TASS.
“For this reason, the more long-range weapons are delivered to the kyiv regime, the more it will be necessary to distance it from the territories that are part of our country,” he said, implicitly including the Ukrainian regions annexed since the start of the invasion. .
“This escalation is like a snowball. It all started with some kind of helmets for the Ukrainian Army, then small arms appeared and now they are talking about sending planes,” he denounced, while charging the German chancellor, Olaf Schölz.
In fact, the Russian minister stressed that Scholz, who has spoken out against sending combat aircraft to kyiv, “is known for his ability to change position quickly”, while adding that Moscow does not rule out that the countries Westerners to send troops “disguised as mercenaries”.
In another order of things, he has emphasized that Russia “will solve all the issues in Ukraine by itself” and has called it a “lie” that Moscow refuses to negotiate. “Our diplomacy has to be constantly explaining what is happening, dismantling lies, especially those that are heard about our refusal to negotiate,” she argued.
Lavrov has also criticized the summit that will take place on February 24, coinciding with the first anniversary of the start of the war, to address the situation. In this sense, he has said that it is an “anti-Russian coven”.
Finally, he has revealed that Moscow is preparing “a report” on the year of the invasion, including data on the alleged activities of the United States in laboratories in Ukraine, before demanding that Western countries “respect the neutrality” of the countries in the process of developing countries that have not taken a stand on the war.
