Berlusconi’s controversies do not prevent Forza Italia from taking charge of Italian diplomacy

MADRID, 21 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The leader of the Brothers of Italy, Giorgia Meloni, has confirmed that the leader of the League, Matteo Salvini, and the number two of Forza Italia, Antonio Tajani, will serve as deputy prime ministers in the future government, in which they will also hold the portfolios of Infrastructures and Exteriors, respectively.

Tajani will be in charge of Italian diplomacy despite controversial statements by Forza Italia leader Silvio Berlusconi, who this week reaffirmed his friendship with Russian President Vladimir Putin and forced Meloni to clarify that his administration will be an ally of Europe. and NATO.

The formation of Berlusconi, however, has been left without the portfolio of Justice, for which former judge Carlo Nordio, deputy for Brothers of Italy in the current legislature, has been appointed.

Meloni has appeared shortly after receiving the commission from the President of Italy, Sergio Mattarella, before whom he has already appeared with the list of ministers already closed. The new cabinet will take office this Saturday morning, as announced by the Quirinal.
