MADRID, 21 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Ukrainian authorities have ordered temporary power cuts in several regions of Ukraine, including kyiv, due to the inability of the system to assume the current level of consumption after the constant bombing of key infrastructure by Russian forces.
The Government of Ukraine has asked the population to save energy, mainly between 5:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m., but the operating company, Ukrenergo, has recognized that the “sharp increase” in consumption makes it necessary to introduce “controlled” restrictions.
These first measures affect kyiv, Chernigov, Cherkasy and Zhitomir, with the hope that “it will help reduce the load” on the system and companies will have time to repair the damaged infrastructure since last week, according to a message posted on Telegram.
The Governor of kyiv, Oleksi Kuleba, has confirmed the start of these blackouts from 9:20 am and has appealed to the responsibility of citizens to save as much energy as possible. The Government has constantly issued advice, calling for example not to use non-essential or high consumption appliances.
