MADRID, 17 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Secretary of National Defense (Sedena) of Mexico did not act despite warnings from national intelligence services about clashes, fires and executions, according to reports leaked by the group of hackers Guacamaya Leaks.
In mid-June 2020, Sedena received a report from the intelligence services that warned that “the leader of the Pacific Cartel in the Altar region, slope of the Chapitos, ordered the burning of gas stations, ranches and taxis in Caborca and Pitiquito”, as reported by the newspaper ‘El Universal’.
Five days later, during the night of June 19, 2020, residents of Caborca, a northwestern Mexican city in the state of Sonora, were caught up in a confrontation between two organized crime groups using high-caliber weapons.
The next morning, the neighbors found burned vehicles and infrastructure, in addition to the remains of nine bodies.
“He coordinates the burning of gas stations with the intention of leaving the municipality without fuel and making it difficult for the security forces to intervene (…). They will burn local taxis to generate fear among the population,” continues the report received.
Between May and November 2020, the Mexican Army received more than twenty intelligence documents with details of a conflict between four groups of the Sinaloa Cartel that were fighting for control of the territory in the Sonora desert, to handle human trafficking. , drugs and weapons to the United States.
In these three months, three acts of violence occurred –on May 14, June 19 and November 12–, despite the warnings and recommendations received by both the Sedena and the National Guard.
These leaked documents also specify corruption of the Armed Forces, since they show how the agents collaborated with the criminals or carried out operations in favor of one of the groups in conflict.
In this sense, the investigations indicate that the actions of the Army have spread violence in the areas where criminal organizations clash.
