MADRID, 21 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The president of the Higher Sports Council (CSD), José Manuel Franco, acknowledged on Tuesday that he is following “with great concern” everything that surrounds the “Negreira case”, which could cause Spanish football to lose “part of its prestige and reputation” worldwide, and made it clear that they will study appearing if there is a criminal proceeding and that from their agency they will act “with due force when the Prosecutor’s Office finishes its work.”

“With great concern, especially for what may have to do with the discredit of Spanish football, which had earned a space in the world as a serial sport, in which things are generally done well and which has a great prestige and I’m afraid that it could lose part of that prestige and reputation”, said Franco after presiding over an act at the Council of the Spanish Surfing Federation.

The leader assured that, “in principle,” the facts that are being brought to light are “very serious.” “And for this reason it must be faced seriously, responsibly and rigorously, but also, when the time comes, with the utmost determination and forcefulness. Let it be perfectly clear that the CSD will act with due forcefulness when the Prosecutor’s Office finishes its work,” he asserted. .

Franco also appreciated the work in this case of the Tax Agency, which “is the one that has begun to investigate”, like that of the Prosecutor’s Office. “It shows that in our country generally the one who does it pays and that any irregular behavior will always have its consequences,” he warned.

The president of the CSD reiterated that this was an issue “so important and so serious” and that the Prosecutor’s Office had to “let it work without interfering.” “When you do your job, which you’ll do well, it’s time to make decisions,” he said.

“It is true that the sports route has prescribed, but it may be the case that criminal proceedings begin and then, the CSD, always in agreement with its legal services, will study the possibility of appearing as well,” he sentenced.
