Sémper warns that “between 15 and 20 PSOE deputies could be involved in this plot” and demands that the PSOE “now explain”
MADRID, 27 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The spokesman for the PP campaign committee, Borja Sémper, announced this Monday that the Canary Islands PP will appear as popular accusation in the so-called ‘Mediator case’, a network that was dedicated to charging commissions from businessmen, and has pointed to the possibility that there are more actions of the PP at the national level depending on how events evolve. Party sources do not rule out requesting an investigation commission or more steps at the judicial level.
In a press conference at the PP headquarters, after the meeting of the steering committee chaired by Alberto Núñez Feijóo, Sérmer pointed out that this is a “hot and embarrassing” matter that the PP continues with “concern”. “And I’m not using double intentions when I talk about hot,” he added.
The leader of the PP has demanded explanations because, as he has said, they are “talking about possible bribes to businessmen to obtain aid from the EU through the back door from next generation funds” and “possible parties with prostitutes and drugs”. .
“We need explanations and we need them now because every day that passes what is known abounds in shame,” he emphasized, to indicate that Congress has been used as the “place” to make those “transactions” that “then are closed with lamentable parties”.
For all these reasons, he has indicated that the PP of the Canary Islands is going to appear before the courts and they have already presented a battery of parliamentary initiatives. The Popular Group has already demanded in Parliament the appearance of Vice President Nadia Calviño and Minister Margarita Robles.
Sémper has left the door open to more performances from his party. “As of today we do not rule out any action”, he has abounded, to add that the PP wants to start in the Canary Islands, “which is the origin”, but “depending on the development of events” they will act in the national Parliament.
When asked if appearing at the national level in the courts in this case, also known as ‘Tito Berni’, has been ruled out, Sémper has assured that “absolutely nothing has been ruled out”. “Step by step”, he has emphasized himself.
The leader of the PP has assured that “it is neither reasonable nor sensible that what is happening stains Spanish politics and generates a shadow of suspicion over a notable number of deputies in Congress.” Thus, he has said that “the idea is spreading that there are between 15 and 20 active PSOE deputies who could be involved in this plot.”
“It would be convenient for the Socialist Group, through its spokesperson, to give an explanation. First to the Spanish and second to those deputies, who may be at home worried about the information that is going to appear in the press,” he warned, to ask again “transparency and clarity”.
Of course, he has said that “beyond names and surnames” and without “disdaining the presumption of innocence”, the Spanish must be “calm” with respect to the work that their deputies carry out in Congress, which must be ” exclusively attend to the problems that Spain has and not supposedly solve their bank accounts”.
