According to the current Bitcoin Optech Newsletter, the number of transactions in the Mempool of Bitcoin has shrunk within the last week a hundred times. In other words: the size of The Mempools is between the 26. June and 3. July from 100,000 to 1,000 transactions declined.
The Lightning Network Daemons
There are, according to the Newsletter, in addition, a new Version of the Lightning Network Daemons, including LND 0.7.0 beta. This is the first Version that uses a Watchtower-implementation. This in turn allows third parties, to protect In-Channel Funds from Offline users. In addition, the new Version promises some Bug Fixes, as well as an improvement in the API links for the tracking of payments.
Suitable for the new Daemons, there is now the C-Lightning 0.7.1 Version. This Version of Lightning that contains new Plugins and RPC, as well as improvements to the handling of the Gossip Protocol.
New proposals for Protocol change
provides for The Bitcoin enthusiasts, the newsletter reports a new proposal, the new paths for the Lightning Protocol. This is intended to prevent transactions in the Bitcoin network in the future is “stuck” and to ensure a faster processing. The proposal of Hiroki Gondo would, however, lead to strong Changes of the Lightning Protocol, and why he is currently being negotiated. Another proposal is to enable standardized transmission of data by means of a Lightning-payments.
