Esteban insists on asking for proposals for Euskadi if he wants their votes and says that now PSOE only wants to talk about the Congress Table

BILBAO, 28 Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The elected deputy of the PNV for Bizkaia Aitor Esteban has censured that the PSOE general secretary, Pedro Sánchez, waits “lying down” waiting for the others to believe that “he is not nothing” to preside over the Government, and seeks “an investiture as cheap as possible.” In addition, he has insisted on asking Sánchez for a program and proposals for the Basque Country if he wants the jeltzal votes, and has said that now the Socialists only want to talk about the Congress Table.

In an interview with Euskadi Irratia, collected by Europa Press, Esteban confirmed that “we are all talking” about the composition of the Congress Bureau and that “it is still early” to know what is going to happen, since it is necessary to address “many issues such as groups, services or commissions”.

In any case, the Jelzale representative has assured that, regarding the election of the President of the Government, “the positions are quite clear”, since, in the case of the PP candidate, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, “if Vox is there for middle, he has nothing to do”.

“We said it clearly during the campaign, it is not something new. We said that if Vox was there, there was nothing to do, not even talk. We have repeated what we already told people during the campaign, and we stick to what we We say. Let him do the round of meetings, but we told him clearly what our position is”, he indicated.

As for Pedro Sánchez, the leader of the PNV has reiterated that he “waits lying down for people to realize that it is him or nothing”, and that he intends to achieve his investiture “as cheaply as possible”.

“But there are some steps. First, the King must decide who he enables and, when he does it with Sánchez, he must decide who he goes with. It seems that he needs all of us. He will call us and he must explain to us what he wants to do, and we will talk about our program. It is a process and its time will come, but the PSOE now only wants to talk about the Table”, he explained.

Thus, he has insisted that the PNV has a program and some approaches to Euskadi and that “that is what must be negotiated” if Sánchez wants to have the votes of the jeltzale formation in a possible investiture.

“The PSOE does not have an absolute majority, and others may want to give it their votes for free, but we have said it from the beginning. Politics is for that, to reach agreements and so that your proposals, even if they are not all, are taken under consideration,” he said.

In this sense, he has opted to carry out the negotiations “calmly and without cameras or microphones”, and that, if agreements are reached, “make them public later”.

On the other hand, Aitor Esteban has referred to the results obtained by the PNV in the general elections of July 23 and, although he has recognized that they have had “a setback” in the votes, he has affirmed that “there have been two elections in a row and the reflection should not be done in three days”, but should be “deeper”.

“We are more or less in the votes we had in 2016. There has been a loss from the previous elections to these, and in the previous ones we had the best results ever, being, for example, the first force in Álava for the first time. But it is It is true that we have had a setback and, as all the parties do, we must delve deeper into it, reflect and adopt the measures we deem necessary, and we are going to do so over the next few months”, he explained.

In addition, the leader of the PNV has considered that “no” has had an influence on his results the fact of having managed to govern institutions such as the Gipuzkoa Provincial Council or the Durango City Council thanks to the votes of the PP.

In this sense, he has insisted that “there has been no agreement” with the PP, and has criticized that EH Bildu “has said over and over again that there was an agreement between PP, Vox and us.” “It has been seen that it was not like that and it has been proven, although they have been lying over and over again throughout the campaign,” he denounced.

Likewise, Esteban has pointed out, after EH Bildu was left some 1,000 votes behind the PNV in the last general elections, that he has “heard many times about the sorpasso or the change of cycle.”

“I heard it from the PSE-EE when they won in the three territories, in 2011 from Bildu when they took out seven deputies and five of us, and I heard it from Pablo Iglesias when he beat us in the three territories. We have experienced ups and downs, but we remain there I think we are well rooted in this country and, if society asks us for other things, we will take them into account and continue on that path”, he concluded.
