MARACENA (GRANADA), June 9 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The acting mayor of Maracena (Granada) and PSOE candidate for re-election, Berta Linares, announced this Friday that she is “taking a step back” to “facilitate a government pact” in the town that “prevents the entry of the right and the ultra-right”, after in the last municipal elections it did not revalidate the absolute majority of the PSOE, although it was the force with the most votes in this municipality.
Linares will also leave his act as councilor, as confirmed by municipal sources to Europa Press and seeks with all this “not to be an excuse to install the right and ultra-right in front of the town hall,” as specified in a statement. Number two on the list is Carlos Porcel.
Berta Linares has affirmed that media exposure and personal wear and tear have led her to “put the objectives of continuing to build a better Maracena before any personal objective”, after this municipality has been in the media spotlight in recent months for the kidnapping, on February 21, of the then socialist councilor Vanessa Romero at the hands of Linares’s sentimental partner at the time and who remains in provisional prison as the alleged material author of the kidnapping.
“I am not even investigated or charged, nor have they called me to testify yet, but in the face of so much noise and malicious hoax, I prefer to step aside and let a new team work for the good of my city.” “I trust that sooner than later Justice will finally show my innocence and make it clear that we have suffered a dirty and unfair campaign, both politically and personally.”
As acting mayor until the 17th, she has said goodbye to her councilors, stressing that they have “worked too hard to leave this immense effort on the air” and “she will sacrifice her candidacy to preserve all that they have advanced.” “Thanks to all those who believed and believe in me; the project for Maracena must continue,” this statement concluded.
The number two of the PSOE candidacy last 28M will be in this situation the one who, with seven councillors, will lead the socialist list to revalidate the Mayor’s Office in this municipality of the metropolitan area in which the PP, which is working to make Julio Pérez mayor , got six councilors. The local corporation has 21 municipalities, bringing the absolute majority to eleven.
The PP would achieve an absolute majority in the investiture plenary session with the votes of Vox and Quiero Maracena, with two councilors each, and the mayor of Maracena Conecta 23. For its part, IU Para la Gente has three minutes.
In this context, the provincial president of the popular, Francisco Rodríguez, already announced, in his first assessment of the results of 28M, talks with all the forces to oust the PSOE, which, as the force with the most votes, would retain the Mayor’s Office with a simple majority in a second vote in the plenary session of investiture.
