Bendodo places internal criticism of Feijóo’s support for the law on abortion deadlines in the “wealth” of opinions

MADRID, 14 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The general coordinator of the PP, Elías Bendodo, has urged the left-wing parties not to demagogy with the public health situation and has warned them that “it has never” been profitable for them to “politicize” demonstrations like the one on Sunday in Madrid .

“The politicization of public health on the left has never gone well,” said Bendodo, who has asked the “leftist forces” in Madrid to “take note” of Andalusia, where the PSOE did so for “40 years ” and ended up losing power, he added.

In statements this Tuesday to TVE, collected by Europa Press, he pointed out that it is “easy” to make demagogy with health and stressed that the public health system “is not the flag of anyone”, so it must be distanced –has said– of the policy “as much as possible”.

For Bendodo, the situation that health is going through cannot be fixed only with more money, but organization is also important. “It is about good or bad managers,” he considered.

“Everyone has to pitch in and try to politicize as little as possible an issue as important to the public as health,” he added, criticizing the “interventionism” that, in his opinion, the left-wing parties had in the protest against the health management of Isabel Díaz Ayuso in the Community of Madrid.

Bendodo, who has expressed the “respect” of the PP to those who demonstrated, has maintained that the politicization of the protests makes them “distort” and has asked the left to make “less noise” and not try to “put on the medal” and take center stage.

From the PP they bet that the Autonomous Communities, which have transferred the health competence, invest as much as possible in an issue that is a “priority”, Bendodo stressed, who has replied to the Government of Pedro Sánchez that it comply with its “obligation” and increase the MIR places, which is “the basic problem”.

On the other hand, Bendodo has assured that the “wealth” of opinions and sensitivities within the PP explains why there are several signatories of the PP’s appeal against the abortion law and charges from the ‘pro-life’ wing of the party angry about the public support of the leader of the ‘popular’, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, to the PSOE’s system of deadlines.

After the Constitutional Court’s endorsement of said law, Bendodo has expressed that the PP considers this Constitutional decision “fully” legal, accepts it and believes that Spain “puts itself at the level of the majority of European countries that speak of the law of deadlines “.

“There are different opinions and sensitivities that all fit within the PP project, all linked to respect and freedom of opinion. Abortion is an issue that has been debated for a long time and Feijóo made my party’s position clear,” he pointed out.

However, Bendodo has disagreed with the law endorsed by the TC in that minors can voluntarily terminate their pregnancy without the need for parental permission. For this, he has criticized that a minor has to have parental authorization to go on a school excursion and not to have an abortion.

And asked several times if the PP considers that abortion is a right, Bendodo has reiterated that the position expressed by Feijóo is “clear”, although without giving more details. Yesterday, the campaign spokesman, Borja Sémper, assured that the party rules out that it is a right.
