MADRID, 23 Abr. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Senate will debate this week an initiative presented by the PSOE so that the autonomous communities, within their powers, promote measures to promote rent as the “most feasible” option for the emancipation of young people, giving as an example that the processing of aid is expedited such as the Youth Rental Bonus.

With the motion presented in the Upper House in full debate on the Housing Law, the PSOE wants public administrations to work “in as many measures as necessary” to reverse the data on the emancipation of current young people.

To this end, it proposes that work be done on increasing leasing aid in order to promote “the rental figure” as “the most feasible option” for those under 35 years of age to become emancipated “as is already the case” in other European countries.

In this sense, the Socialists have proposed, among other things, that the processing of rental aid, such as the Youth Rental Bonus, be expedited “as much as possible” so that they can reach the beneficiaries “as soon as possible.”

They have also highlighted the importance of promoting, in coordination with autonomous communities and town halls, “the expansion of the current public housing stock” to facilitate access to it “at decent and affordable prices that avoid having to allocate a disproportionate part of the salary monthly housing expenses”.

The PSOE has stressed the need for public administrations to work “especially” in the most stressed areas so that flats that, “the result of the real estate ‘boom’ of the past decade,” are still empty come onto the market.

At the same time, he has delved into the contradiction that a high percentage of the population residing in stressed areas “is not able to access a home” when there are disused buildings.

The motion also goes through offering help lines in areas affected by depopulation so that young people have access to homes and rehabilitate them, always “prioritizing energy efficiency.”

With this last proposal, the socialist group in the Senate wants to promote the rehabilitation of homes for young families, retaining and settling the population in emptied Spain, favoring “rebalancing and territorial cohesion.”

Precisely, the motion is being debated at a time when the Housing Law is being processed, a measure that the central government expects to be approved this week in Congress and the third week of May in the Senate, so that it can enter into force. before the municipal and regional elections on May 28.

The agreement reached by the coalition government with ERC and Bildu provides for setting a limitation on increases in all rents of 3% from 2024 and from there creating a new index. It also lowers the concept of large fork from ten to five homes and exempts tenants from paying agency fees, which must be paid by the owners.
