BARCELONA, Nov. 24 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The lawyer for the former president of the Government Carles Puigdemont, Gonzalo Boye, explained this Thursday that he believes that his client is not affected by the reform of the law that will repeal the crime of sedition and replace it with aggravated public disorder.
“I very much doubt that we will go to the extreme of retroactively applying a criminal law in the sense of applying a law that is not favorable to the prisoner. I think that this reform does not affect them,” he said in a TV3 interview collected by Europa Press and in reference also to the former ministers Toni Comín and Clara Ponsatí.
He has recalled that the three of them “were never going to be handed over for the crime of sedition” and therefore he does not believe that they can be now for aggravated disorders.
Regarding the hearing in the General Court of the European Union (TGUE) on Friday on the immunity of his three defendants, he said that the result of this procedure “is the greatest contribution of the exiles to the authentic dejudicialization of the Catalan conflict”.
“The political conflict is going to be taken out of court to the extent that things go well for us in Europe”, and he has affirmed that the result of the procedure goes beyond the interests of Puigdemont, Comín and Ponsatí.
