MADRID, 15 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Judge Adolfo Carretero has agreed to lift Luis Medina the precautionary measure that forced him to appear before the court on the 4th and 18th of each month as part of the procedure in which he is being investigated for alleged fraud against the Madrid City Council in the sale of material to deal with the first wave of the pandemic.

This is stated in a car, to which Europa Press had access, in which the increase in the aforementioned measure is agreed, maintaining the withdrawal of the passport and the prohibition of leaving the national territory.

This request made by the defense was opposed by the Mixed Group of the Madrid City Council, the PSOE and Mas Madrid, and the Public Prosecutor’s Office did not object.

The magistrate argues that seven months have elapsed since the adoption of the measure, “without the investigated party failing to comply with it, and, given his passport, taking into account that he resides and has roots in Madrid, there is no risk of the investigated party fleeing or the possibility of manipulating evidence that determined the measure, for which reason it is lifted, maintaining the withdrawal of the passport”.

The councilor of Más Madrid in the City Council Miguel Montejo has highlighted that the “unheard of” that Medina stops having to go to sign in court is the attitude of the Consistory.

“He is not opposed to this or to anything that could harm Medina or Luceño. It seems that for Almeida the swindled is not the City Council, nor its management, but the opposition or another city. This way of acting by the Municipal Legal Department is already a modus operandi. He doesn’t ask questions, he doesn’t ask for proof, nothing”, he criticized.

For this reason, he has demanded that Almeida do something “to recover the money that he himself lost in a purchase of medical supplies in a pandemic based on the trust his cousin gave him.”
