SEVILLA, 29 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, has claimed this Saturday compliance with the Spanish Constitution “from beginning to end, from the first to the last article, whether you are in the Government or in the opposition”.
“That some political parties shamelessly fail to comply with the Constitution is the defeat of moderation and the triumph of extremism,” said Sánchez without at any time citing the PP or the General Council of the Judiciary (CGPJ) during the act of commemoration to the socialist victory in 1982.
From the Fibes II auditorium of the Palace of Exhibitions and Congresses of Seville, Sánchez has starred in the closing ceremony of the act organized by the PSOE to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the historic victory by an absolute majority of 202 seats that the party then led by former President Felipe González and former Vice President Alfonso Guerra.
Sánchez has pointed out that since that victory, the PSOE has fulfilled its commitments to dialogue and coexistence, both in the Government and in the opposition. “We close ranks around the Constitution when we are in government and if we are in opposition we do the same in support of the government and I think we have shown some proof to the Spanish population as a whole throughout our years in opposition”, defended the also general secretary of the party.
Thus, after this week the news has been marked by the breakdown of the talks by the PP to renew the General Council of the Judiciary (CGPJ), Sánchez has defended compliance with the Magna Carta “from pe to pa, from first to the last of the articles and every day of the year, whether you are in government or in opposition”.
In addition, also referring to the PP –during his offensive against European funds in Brussels– the president has reproached that the PSOE does not “discredit” Spain nor does it call a “pedigüeño”, as José María Aznar did with Felipe González, a President of the Government who brought some funds “to modernize and unite” Spain.
