MADRID, 26 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The spokesman for the PSOE in Congress, Patxi López, pointed out this Wednesday that there is no Spanish pelota team and has defended the “logic” of recognizing the official nature of the Basque pelota team.
In these terms, the Basque socialist leader has expressed himself in an interview on Antena 3, collected by Europa Press, after the PNV has managed to approve an amendment to the Sports Law that allows, for the first time, the direct participation of sports federations regional in international competitions.
“It’s true that the Basque pelota team has its logic, it doesn’t seem like an anathema to me that we break absolutely nothing,” López argued, while also assuring that “there is no Spanish pelota team.”
Next, he stressed that “everything is much more limited than it seems” and that, in addition, any regional team will have to have the approval of the Higher Sports Council or the “federation on duty”.
In this key, he has asked not to seek confrontation “for everything” because they are “reasonable” things. “The Spanish federation will have to give its approval. It will not be done as a confrontation, but as a collaboration,” she emphasized.
Lastly, he pointed out that there has always been a Basque baseball team and that this amendment does not seem to him “anything serious or worrying”. “When you compete, you will compete,” he has settled.
