MADRID, 4 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –
UGT has attributed this Tuesday the increase in unemployment in September by 17,679 people to the seasonality that the end of the summer campaign implies. However, as it is a smaller increase than that registered in other years, the union considers that the high seasonality and temporality characteristic of the Spanish labor market is moderating.
“The data released today show a growing solidity in the creation of employment that, removing the seasonal component, increases for the seventeenth consecutive month, despite the uncertain international political context in which we find ourselves,” UGT stressed in a statement.
The organization led by Pepe Álvarez has also highlighted that quality employment continues to be created, as permanent contracts account for 46.7% of the total contracts signed in September.
However, despite the improvement in working conditions, the union has insisted on the need to raise wages so that families do not lose purchasing power. In this sense, he has denounced that the refusal of the CEOE to sign a new Agreement for Employment and Collective Bargaining (AENC) that ensures fair wage increases “shows the lack of vision and the little responsibility of the employers for the good future of the Spanish economy”.
At the same time, the union has asked to provide the Public Employment Services with the necessary resources so that they can carry out their work effectively, and promote active employment policies with programs and services that are adapted to the specific needs of each person.
