MADRID, 29 Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Spanish tourism sector welcomes August with a level of hotel reservations higher than in 2019, according to the World Hotel Index of SiteMinder, the hotel trade platform with which nearly 3,000 hotels in Spain work, which indicates that the volume of reserves is today 106% above pre-pandemic figures.
Spain is the country that presents the best tourist evolution for this month, being ahead of the global average (94.4%) and other countries in our environment such as Italy (100.4%), France (95.7%), Morocco (79%) or Malta (66%). A leadership that it shares with Portugal, which registers a volume of reserves of 108.6%.
The good performance of the sector is distributed evenly throughout the Spanish territory. Barcelona and Valencia stand out as the main capitals that improve pre-covid data the most, with a volume of reservations 109% and 102.5%, respectively, followed by Madrid (98%), Malaga (96.4%) and Seville (96, 1%), which are close to reaching the levels of 2019.
SiteMinder data shows that there is a strong desire to travel this summer from tourists around the world. Proof of this is that of all the reservations made during the last two weeks, 51% are for stays this month of August and 21.8% for September.
In addition, more than half of the guests (57%) who will stay in Spanish hotels during these months are foreigners.
