He remarks, after the survey of the CEO, that the society of Catalonia does not want more conflict but to consummate the reunion
MADRID, 29 Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, has highlighted that the survey carried out by the Center d’Estudis d’Opinió (CEO) of the Generalitat shows that 52% of Catalan society does not want independence, in addition to claiming that the strategy of dialogue is working to resolve the conflict.
This has been transferred to the media after his appearance to take stock of the political course and the degree of execution of the commitments of the Executive’s program, in reference to this survey that replaces the PSC as the force with the greatest voting intention with between 36 and 42 deputies, followed by ERC with a range of between 31 and 37 seats and Junts with between 22 and 27.
For Sánchez, this survey is positive not so much because of the victory it grants to the Catalan socialists, but because of that demographic data that shows a majority (52%) of Catalans who are not in the independence movement.
In his opinion, the survey reveals that Catalan society is “fed up” with the conflict and wants to overcome it, to meet again with the other part of the citizens of this community and with the “rest of brothers” in Spain.
It also reflects, as he has related, the work of the formations that are committed to dialogue and dejudicialization of this crisis, in their eagerness to return to the “territory of politics” the will for pacts and agreements as opposed to the path of “imposition unilateral” that the ‘procés’ meant in 2017.
In this way, he has promised that as long as there is a progressive government at the state level, he will always be willing to dialogue with the Government, to then praise that with “everyone’s effort” they are overcoming the conflict.
Regarding the reform of the autonomous financing system that several communities claim, Sánchez explained that yesterday the Minister of Finance, María Jesús Montero, convened the Fiscal and Financial Policy Council where the “largest delivery on account” of resources to the regions.
He also stressed that Montero suggested to the governments that the key element must be the adjusted population and that it is the parties that must understand each other to achieve a new model of regional financing.
In this way, the president has indicated that the PSOE is open to reaching agreements for this reform, but that in the meantime they are going to pour extraordinary volumes of resources to that level of the administration, in addition to the community funds that are being transferred to the communities to address issues such as reindustrialization and digital and energy transformation.
