MADRID, 21 May. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The French player Kylian Mbappé will continue to wear the Paris Saint-Germain shirt after having reached an agreement with his club -despite the negotiations with Real Madrid-, as announced this Saturday through a video where the footballer says that his story is written “here”.
“Our history is written here, here is Paris,” said Mbappé, dressed in a gala and on the Parc des Princes stadium, where minutes later he posed with the club’s shirt inscribed with his name and the figure of 2025, the year until he will continue at PSG.
Mbappé, in a festive atmosphere celebrating the conquest of Ligue 1 dates ago, went out on the pitch together with club president Nasser Al-Khelaifi and confirmed what was an open secret: his renewal with PSG for the next three seasons.
His position has changed in recent weeks, where he seemed to have everything tied up with Real Madrid. However, his mother recently slipped that PSG would have matched the offer and even surpassed it to achieve their goal. Mbappé has finally agreed and will continue to wear the colors of the Parisian club.
Mbappé, who was close to signing for Real Madrid last summer for an amount greater than 200 million euros, delayed his departure until the end of this course. However, the player has decided to stay in the French capital after accepting PSG’s latest exorbitant proposal.
AL-KHELAIFI: “THIS EXTENSION MARKS THE HISTORY OF OUR CLUB”
Al-Khelaifi was very happy after the renewal and assured that the extension of Kylian Mbappé’s contract “marks an exceptional moment in the club’s history and is great news” for all PSG fans “from all over the world”.
“Since Kylian joined our family, despite his young age, he has achieved wonders at all levels. By extending himself with Paris Saint-Germain, he becomes the cornerstone of the club’s project for the coming years, within and off the pitch,” he added.
“I am very proud and very happy, for Kylian, for our fans and for the entire Paris Saint-Germain family on all continents, to continue our fantastic shared adventure. For our fans and our club, we are going to open the most beautiful pages of our history,” he said.
Mbappé, who joined Paris Saint-Germain in 2017 from AS Monaco, is already the club’s second-best scorer of all time thanks to his 168 goals and 87 assists in 216 games, across all competitions.
The 23-year-old striker has since won 4 French Championships (2018, 2019, 2020, 2022), 3 French Cups (2018, 2020, 2021), 2 League Cups (2018, 2020) and 2 Champions Trophies (2019, 2020).
