AMC Theatres to Receive Shiba Inu and Dogecoin Payments in March
Adam Aron, CEO of AMC Entertainment Holdingss, announced Monday on Twitter that AMC Theatres would accept payments in two popular meme cryptos, dogecoin(DOGE) and Shiba Inu(SHIB) in March.
AMC Entertainment (NYSE : AMC), also known as AMC Theatres is the largest movie-exhibition company in the U.S. and Europe. It operates around 950 theaters worldwide and 10500 screens.
Aron explained that AMC Theatres’ IT department stated that Bitpay would be available for online payments to AMC Theatres by March 19, and on AMC’s mobile apps by April 16, or a few days earlier.
Since he ran a Twitter poll about dogecoin and another about shiba iu in September last year, the CEO has promised that AMC Theatres will take DOGE payments.
Aron claimed that Bitpay, a crypto payment service provider, convinced him to support the shiba. He claimed that he would be Bitpay’s first client to accept SHIP.
However, Bitpay started supporting Shiba Inu crypto in November and retail giant Newegg quickly began accepting SHIB payments.
Aron also announced that AMC Theatres would now accept four cryptocurrency: bitcoin ( TTC), Ethereum ( EETH), bitcoin cash ( CH) and litecoin( LTC). Customers can only use these cryptocurrencies to pay through their Paypal account.
