Mohan said that the platform is currently examining ways to make its content more immersive. Mohan also suggested that deeper integration with metaverse functions could be part of the solution.
YouTube’s Partner program, which allows creators to earn money by using the platform, could provide the new functionality. Mohan stated that the program had reached 2 million participants in 2021.
Mohan suggests that the Google-owned company could expand its involvement in blockchain and NFTs. This would be possible thanks to the decentralization provided by Web 3.
Mohan, for example, stated that YouTube could allow fans to purchase unique videos, photos and artwork from their favorite creators.
Mohan stated, “There are many things to be mindful of when we approach these new technologies responsibly. But we believe there’s tremendous potential.”
