BARCELONA, 28 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The leader of United We Can in Congress, Jaume Asens, has accused the PP of being a “mafia group” by understanding that it is blackmailing with the suspension of talks to renew the General Council of the Judiciary (CGPJ).

“Mr. Feijóo takes us for idiots because they are trying to legitimize a situation that is very serious. Can anyone imagine a government in office that continues to govern and opposes its dissolution, after four years with the mandate expired, against the verdict of the ballot boxes? We would say that it is an illegitimate government, a coup d’état”, he criticized in an interview on Catalunya Ràdio this Friday collected by Europa Press.

For this reason, he has opined that the PSOE “is mistaken in thinking that it is possible to operate, trust, in the PP” and has assured that the suspension of the negotiations did not surprise them.

However, Asens has considered that it is “early” to propose alternatives to the renewal of the Government of the judges, although he has recalled that United We Can already proposed to modify the majorities necessary for new appointments.

Faced with this situation, he has lamented that the reform of the crime of sedition is “a little further than yesterday” –although he has insisted that there are parliamentary majorities for it– since the PP demanded to jointly address any reform of the Penal Code by suspending the negotiations to renew the CGPJ.
