An upcoming collaboration between Bakkt and Quiznos will allow customers to pay for meals at certain locations with Bitcoin (BTC).

Customers will be able to pay in BTC at certain Quiznos shops in Colorado’s capital as part of an initial test run, according to a public statement on Tuesday. The statement stated that the pilot would be available at selected Quiznos locations in Denver, including the airport. It will start in mid-August.

Bakkt’s app will allow people to use Bitcoin to pay. It is a flexible hub that allows users to hold and spend Bitcoin as well as manage reward points and other features. REGO Restaurant Group owns Quiznos. REGO’s president Mark Lohmann stated in a statement:

“Partnering up with an innovative platform like Bakkt is attractive to us for many reasons. It allows us to accept Bitcoin directly at the point-of-sale as part of a seamless transaction As we continue to digital transform and respond to mobile/millennial consumer demand for cryptocurrency payment options, we are thrilled to offer customers yet another way to purchase a meal through the Bakkt digital asset bank.”

You will also get an additional perk when you test it. Quiznos users will receive $15 worth of Bitcoin for downloading Bakkt’s App, purchasing Bitcoin on it, and then spending that BTC in a participating Quiznos Shop, the statement included.

According to the statement, “Through a partnership of Bakkt merchants and franchisees can accept bitcoin payments from customers while still enjoying a cash-settled service.” It was unclear whether Quiznos would immediately sell the BTC received.

Cointelegraph reached Bakkt for comment, but was not able to get a response in the time allowed for publication.
