MADRID, 29 Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Spanish tennis player Roberto Bautista got into the final of the Kitzbuhel tournament (Austria) this Friday by beating his compatriot Albert Ramos, while the also Spanish Carlos Alcaraz reached the semifinal round in the Umag tournament (Croatia).
Bautista beat Ramos (6-3, 7-6(3)) to reach his third final in 2022, champion in Doha and finalist in Mallorca, on three different surfaces. In the last step in this ATP 250 event, the man from Castellón will face the Austrian Filip Misolic or the German Yannick Hanfmann, a duel postponed to Saturday due to rain in the tie-break of the third set.
The duel between Spaniards had alternatives for both in the first set, but Bautista achieved the ‘break’ in the sixth game that ended up being decisive. With 5-2 and serve in the second act, the player from Castellón suffered the reaction of the Catalan, who came to force sudden death, where Bautista finished with emotion.
Meanwhile, Alcaraz overwhelmed Argentine Facundo Bagnis (6-0, 6-4) to add his second victory this week in the land of Umag and reach the semifinals. The Murcian, who is seeking to defend what was his first ATP title last year, did not give his rival an option and met with the Italian Giulio Zeppieri.
On the other hand, Roberto Carballés fought for the pass to the semifinals in Umag against the Italian Jannik Sinner, but he was left with honey on his lips in a tied 6-4, 7-6(5). The canary let the first set escape with an early break and in the second he avoided that setback, recovered from another break but gave up in the tie-break.
Meanwhile, fellow Spaniard Bernabé Zapata, who was playing in the quarterfinals for the first time in an ATP tournament, was unable to take another step forward in his great campaign when he fell (7-5, 6-4) to Zeppieri.
