He believes that the citizens saw in the Senate duel that Feijóo represents the “real Spain” and Sánchez the “official Spain”
MADRID, 19 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The general coordinator of the PP, Elías Bendodo, has assured this Wednesday that the head of the Executive, Pedro Sánchez, was not “so lacking” with Alberto Núñez Feijóo in the second ‘face to face’ that they held in the Senate, something that, in his opinion, trial, means admitting that he was “wrong” in the tone used in the first, where he accused the head of the opposition of “insolvent” and “bad faith”.
“Yesterday’s debate was very different from the previous one in the Senate. Sánchez was in a flatter tone and was not so rude, to put it in some way. And the fact that it was not like the first debate means that he recognizes implied that he was wrong in his approach in the first debate”, declared Bendodo in an interview on Telecinco, which has been collected by Europa Press.
Bendodo has admitted that the “change in tone” of the Prime Minister in this second parliamentary duel is “evident”. In his opinion, the debate held on Tuesday in the Upper House was in a “more relaxed tone” and “served to delve deeper into the country models” that the PP and the PSOE have.
In this sense, he stressed that it was visualized that Feijóo represents “real Spain”, which “has a hard time making ends meet”, while the chief executive represented “official Spain”, which “has not yet grounded in the reality of the problems of the Spaniards”.
“The Government lives in a parallel reality,” Bendodo declared in another interview on TVE, picked up by Europa Press, where he stressed that the PP has had the government’s hand “up to five times” with offers of pacts, but “always They say no”.
According to Bendodo, Sánchez met this Tuesday in the Senate with “a Prime Minister” such as Feijóo, who has “clear ideas” and a “clear model of what he wants for Spain.” In his opinion, he is “clearly the alternative” to the coalition Executive of PSOE and United We Can.
When asked if the PP believes that Spain is on the verge of a recession, despite the fact that Sánchez made an effort to dispel fears of a recession in the debate, the general coordinator of the ‘popular’ party has indicated that “of all the economies of the EU the one that is recovering later from the Covid is the Spanish”.
“And we are not going to reach that level of pre-pandemic growth until the year 24,” Bendodo emphasized, adding that the PP is “concerned” because “the economic situation” in the country “is not positive.”
The leader of the PP has blamed the Government for betting on raising taxes, something that, as he has said, “suffocates families more”. For this reason, he has pointed out that the specialized entities recognize that “the future of the Spanish economy is not going in the right direction”. “The situation does not lead us to good news in the future,” he added.
At this point, he highlighted Feijóo’s proposal to Sánchez to withdraw the draft General State Budget (PGE) for 2023 with the aim of “sitting down to talk about some real public accounts”. In his opinion, some PGE that “do not serve neither to create employment nor to create wealth, are not good Budgets”.
Given the fact that Sánchez and Feijóo avoided entering the General Council of the Judiciary (CGPJ) during the debate as it was in full negotiation, Bendodo has avoided giving details about those conversations but has highlighted that they were “stalled for months” and now “they are advancing at a good pace” and the contacts “intensify”.
“I hope that this bears fruit in an agreement sooner rather than later”, added Bendodo, who has defended his party’s proposal to advance in independence so that “the judges fundamentally choose the judges”, “assuming the requirements of the EU”.
The general coordinator of the ‘popular’ has acknowledged that “work is being done along this line and progress is being made” in the talks on the Judiciary. “Hopefully we can reach an agreement soon,” he said.
