He says that the Spanish supported the PP in the past when there were problems and now “the circumstances are given” due to various crises
MADRID, 10 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The leader of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, has warned this Thursday that supporting Vox or Ciudadanos in the next elections can help keep Pedro Sánchez in the Palacio de la Moncloa because if the vote is “dispersed” in three formations of center- right are going to “lose thousands” of votes. Therefore, he has stressed that the “only solution is to concentrate it in the Popular Party.”
“If we concentrate the center-right vote, then we will win,” Feijóo declared at a conference at the University of the Americas in Quito (Ecuador), the last stop on his Latin American tour after visiting Uruguay, Argentina and Chile. Later, he plans to meet with the President of the Republic, Guillermo Lasso.
When asked specifically what arguments he would give voters to support the PP instead of Vox or Cs, Feijóo replied: “If you want to win, you must vote for the PP. If you want to lose, you can vote for anyone.”
In this sense, he stressed that those who “really want alternation” in Spanish democracy “the only solution they have is to concentrate the vote in the Popular Party” because “if it disperses it, then the parties that are currently in government”.
Feijó has highlighted that the PP is a party that was born “with the Constitution in the 1970s” while Vox and Cs “did not exist” then but rather emerged “as a consequence of the disaffection” of politics in this last decade.
“Let’s unite the center-right vote, let’s not disperse it. When the center-right vote unites, there are more than ten million Spaniards who vote for the center-right. If we vote between three, thousands of votes will be lost by the electoral system”, he warned, to add that in this case the last seat in each province can be said by the most voted force, “which can be an independence or populist party”.
As he added, the PP has “a lot of traceability”, with government experience and more than 40 years of history. In addition, he has stressed that it is made up of people from humbler people to people with more training.
The leader of the PP has assured that “every time there have been problems in Spain”, as happened in the 90s and in 2011, the Spanish have voted for the Popular Party. “Right now in Spain there is an energy crisis, a debt crisis, a price crisis, a crisis of economic growth and a crisis of massive tax increases. Therefore, the circumstances exist to vote for the PP,” he proclaimed. the.
Previously, in statements to the media, Feijóo has criticized that the Government imposes taxes “through the back door and behind the back of the institutions”, as it wants to do with the tax on large assets, something that, in his opinion, causes insecurity and puts at risk the fiscal autonomy of the Autonomous Communities, carrying out a double taxation.
In his opinion, the Executive of Pedro Sánchez offers signs of “nervousness”, “weakness” and with “internal contradictions” that, as he has stressed, he wants to transfer to the fiscal and tax legal framework of Spain.
Both in the colloquium and in the statements that he has previously made before the journalists, Feijóo has transferred his “unequivocal support” to the Lasso Government and has condemned any act that violates the democratic legality of the country, as a consequence of the disturbances and revolts registered , which force to hold the meeting with the President of the Republic in Guayaquil.
In addition, the president of the PP has been “convinced” that the European Parliament will soon unlock the possibility that Ecuadorian citizens can enter any EU country without a visa in the Schengen Area, as the PP has requested. “This discrimination that occurs with Ecuador makes no sense,” he stressed.
