Tobey, 2, 13 and 27 years old, arrives free after having finished his contract with Valencia Basket

American center Mike Tobey will play for Barça next season, reinforcing Barça’s inside game, after having completed his contract with Valencia Basket, according to the Blaugrana team in a statement.
“Barça and Mike Tobey have reached an agreement for the incorporation of the American pivot, with a Slovenian passport, for one season, until June 30, 2023. The agreement is pending medical review,” reported the Catalan club.
From Barça, they highlighted that Tobey, 2,13 and 27 years old, is “a mobile pivot, forceful under the hoop and is also a threat from the outside with a difficult shot to defend”. The man from Monroe (New York) has extensive experience in the Endesa League, a competition in which he has played 163 games with Valencia Basket (128) and Tenerife (35).
His average in this last course was 6.6 points and 4 rebounds, but in the overall 163 games the numbers rise to 9.1 points and 5.2 rebounds in 17 minutes on average. In the Eurocup, he had records of 10.3 points, 5.7 rebounds and a PIR of 11.7 in 19 minutes per game.
Regarding the Euroleague, Tobey has played 54 games with Valencia between the 2019-2020 and 2020-2021 seasons. In the latter he had a prominent role averaging 9.6 points, 5 rebounds and a PIR of 11.7 in 19 minutes per game.
Tobey has been an international with Slovenia since 2021. He played in the Tokyo Olympics and was a fundamental part of the good performance of the European team. Currently, he is part of the Slovenian team pre-selection for the Eurobasket, which will start on September 1.
