MADRID, 20 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Minister of Finance and Civil Service, María Jesús Montero, considers that the Minister of the Presidency, Relations with the Courts and Democratic Memory, Félix Bolaños, would be a good candidate for Mayor of Madrid in the upcoming municipal elections in May 2023, but he has recalled that he has a “very important” task in the Government.

“Mr. Bolaños would always be a good candidate for everyone, but he has a very important task in the Government, neither more nor less than being the Minister of the Presidency,” he told the media after attending the Europa Press Information Breakfast that the president of the Balearic Islands, Francina Armengol, has carried out this Wednesday.

The minister has preferred not to speculate on these issues because the candidate will be the person that the militancy believes is “the one with the best profile.” “He never likes that there are other names on the table,” she pointed out.

“It is up to the candidates to take the step forward and putting a name on the table serves to assess their profile, but certainly not to confirm any issue,” the minister emphasized.

In any case, the head of the Treasury has pointed out that the fact that his name is being considered by the militants must be “a source of pride” for him, at the same time that he has insisted that his responsibilities within the Executive are very important.

However, he has emphasized that it is up to Bolaños to take that “leap” and to the Prime Minister, Pedro Sánchez, “to have the ability to see” where each one plays a better role.
