Kyiv police have arrested four men, aged between 24 and 29, for the abduction and murder of a 29-year-old foreigner who was a known Bitcoin holder. The motive behind the crime was to steal nearly 3 bitcoins, valued at around $170,000.

The incident took place in the Solomianskyi district, where residents heard screams and saw several men beating and dragging the victim into a car. A large-scale police operation was launched to locate the suspects, leading to the detention of the perpetrators.

Investigations revealed that the suspects had planned the abduction after discovering the victim’s significant Bitcoin holdings. They attacked him as he returned home and forced him to transfer his cryptocurrency to their wallet. Tragically, the victim was strangled after the transfer was completed.

To cover their tracks, the suspects changed the car’s appearance, buried the body in a forest, and converted the stolen cryptocurrency into cash. However, the swift response of Kyiv law enforcement prevented their escape.

The suspects are facing serious charges under the Criminal Code of Ukraine, including intentional murder, robbery, illegal deprivation of liberty by an organized group, and hiding a crime. They have been placed in custody without the possibility of bail and could face life imprisonment if convicted.
