MADRID, 9 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism, Reyes Maroto, has refused this Wednesday to clarify whether she will compete to be the PSOE’s candidate for Mayor of Madrid, although she has admitted that she has not “had time to think about candidacies” and that, today Today, she is focused on her work as a minister.

“I am focused on the day to day of the ministry, I have not had time to think about candidates, the work I am doing absorbs me day by day,” she explained in statements to La Sexta, collected by Europa Press.

“Let’s see, there is still time for the candidates to present themselves,” Maroto commented, avoiding commenting on the pools that place her as the headliner in the capital for the municipal elections next May.

Asked if she would like to assume that responsibility, she replied: “It’s not that I feel like it. All of us militants are at the party’s disposal, but now my task as minister takes over.” “Let’s wait, there is still a game”, she has said, at another point in the interview.

The general secretary of the Madrid Socialists, Juan Lobato, has not yet agreed to reveal the name of the candidate. Of course, he has admitted that the chosen one “has been forming a great team for weeks” and that she herself will be in charge of announcing her decision “a few days before” November 21, when the deadline for presenting candidacies opens.
