MADRID, 28 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Defense Minister, Margarita Robles, criticized this Friday that the leader of the opposition, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, aired the telephone conversation he had with the Prime Minister, Pedro Sánchez, and has assured that “there is nothing to negotiate” but that the Popular Party has to comply with the Constitution and renew the General Council of the Judiciary (CGPJ).

“I can tell you that in politics, as in life itself, private conversations do not have to be aired and much more so in matters of state. We are talking about political leaders who have to have a sense of responsibility with something as important as is CGPJ”, the minister transferred in an interview on TVE, collected by Europa Press, when asked about whether Sánchez was bothered that Feijóo made this conversation public after suspending negotiations to renew the body for electing judges except that the PSOE reconsider the reform of the crime of sedition.

Thus, he has assured that it is “unnecessary” that he has reported the call between the leaders of the two main parties with the aim of “getting along with who knows what sector of his voters or his own party.”

Robles has conveyed the feeling of “absolute indignation” of all members of the Government because “yesterday was a black day for the rule of law.” This decision, for the minister, shows that the ‘popular’ leader “has no sense of state” or “political height”, but is “playing” with the Judiciary and “attacking one of the basic foundations of democracy”.

Asked if the pact was closed, after the PP reported in its statement that there were still issues to be negotiated, the minister pointed out that Sánchez said “very clearly” that they had been negotiating for days and that Feijóo himself had recognized it as such.

On the suspension of the negotiations, the minister has added that the Galician leader will have to be asked what this means. However, the minister has pointed out that “there is nothing to negotiate” because “the Constitution must be complied with”. “How can someone aspire to be an alternative government when they are breaking the Constitution?”, She has asked herself, as she has assured that Feijóo “never wanted to renew” the CGPJ. “I don’t know the reasons. I don’t know if it’s due to pressure from the extreme right or if it’s because he doesn’t believe in the rule of law,” she added immediately.
