MADRID, 3 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Juan Gabriel Rueda, who during the presidential elections was in charge of coordinating the campaign of the president of Colombia, Gustavo Petro, in the region of Salgar, Antioquia, has been assassinated this weekend, according to senator Isabel Cristina Zuleta.

Rueda, known in the region for his defense of the environment, is one of the three social leaders who have been assassinated over the weekend, the other two in Bolívar and Putumayo. In this case, the young man worked in an area with a significant presence of the Clan del Golfo, reports the RCN station.

Zuleta has reported through his Twitter profile that they had denounced previous threats for leading the Historic Pact campaign “in a Uribista municipality” and has demanded that the Prosecutor’s Office “that this political crime not go unpunished.”

After learning of Rueda’s death, President Petro himself has echoed what happened on Twitter and after wondering who is behind this “murder”, he has asked the Prosecutor’s Office to coordinate an investigation into these events.
